Armed with a bucket, spade and plenty of sun cream, the kids love a trip to the beach.
There are plenty of beaches available in places like Antibes, Cannes and Frejus - or St Tropez, for those who are prepared to take a longer drive.
Lac St Cassien
We are incredibly fortunate to have this great lake on our doorstep.
It is a vast, beautiful, yet tranquil location, seeming like the kind of location that the great Ansel Adams would have enjoyed photographing.
If you're looking for a change from the swimming pool at the villa, and you don't feel like doing a 30 minute drive to the beach, the lake is a wonderful option to consider.
Take a swim, laze by the water or head out on the pedalos, and enjoy the expansive space and tranquility.

The walls of historical venues like the wonderfully artistic Colombe d'Or hotel displays works of some of the worlds most famous artists, a number of who exchange their artworks for a stay at the hotel or a few meals (and perhaps a glass of Stella Artois).
